Calling All Yachties! Two Smashing New Guernseys from Le Tricoteur - Made in Guernsey

Port & Starboard.  (Or when wearing it reversed, Starboard & Port.) All Photos of Muffy Aldrich.
An authentic Guernsey is an unparalleled piece of knitwear for when out on the water.  And Guernsey's Le Tricoteur is the real deal.  Their tightly knit worsted wool blocks all kinds of salty wind.  I have worn them for decades.

And now they have re-introduced two smashing versions from their archives.

With special permission from the Royal Navy, they have introduced the Cresta Run (which is a natural ice track in St. Moritz), one of the oldest races in history and one of the first events at the Winter Olympics.   They will donate 10 pounds from each sale to Royal Navy and Royal Marine’s Charity.

And also from their archives, the very snappy Port & Starboard Guernsey.  Le Tricoteur will donate 10 pounds from each jumper sold to the Guernsey Sailing Trust.

As always, these garments are Made in Guernsey,

A Spring Cricket

All Photos by/of Muffy Aldrich
When the sun is bright and the air still chilly, it is an ideal time to break out the cricket sweaters for being out and about.  This one, from Cordings of Piccadilly, is particularly lovely as it is Made in Scotland of 90% wool and 10% cashmere.  Thick and soft.

I also have one in Navy and Cordings has added a third color this year, Burgundy.

My tattersall shirt is a Sero that I bought directly from their Connecticut factory somewhere between the late 1970s and the late 1980s.  I went to so many of their factory sales back then that I lose track of what I got when.

And the new Lotuff Small Tote is still in use in its distinctive color, their new Glacier.  A very Scottish color.

Today’s Decision…

Who says I don’t wear a variety of clothes in this weather? Sometimes I wear a white turtleneck with a navy and natural striped sweater, and other times I wear navy and white striped turtleneck with a natural sweater.

Tweed Paddock Jackets from Cordings of Piccadilly

Teviot Tweed Paddock Jacket - Photos by Salt Water New England

I adore these jackets, which are made from spectacular Scottish tweeds from Scotland's finest mill,  Lovat Mill.

These Paddock Jackets are shorter jackets than Cordings Field Coats, (check their helpful garment measurements in their size guide on the site) so they can, as I am showing here, work as a unisex item.

The Teviot Tweed Paddock jacket that I am wearing has the snappiest Lindsay Tartan lining in a sturdy 100% cotton.  The Cordings House Check tweed (shown below) is lined in their signature quilted gold lining.

Lighter weight than their Field Coats, the comfortable Paddock Jackets are well suited to wear when travelling as well as zipping in and out of buildings doing errands.  And they are not too bulky to wear when driving.

Reader Question: Where do people use duffle coats today?

 A reader question:

I have a problem that may be a bit too familiar to other readers.  I like how duffle coats look, but I am not sure how I would best use it.  Maybe for commuting.  Maybe for watching soccer games.  What is the coldest weather that it is useful for?

Bosie's Glenugie Nep in Raasay Green, Made in Scotland

Photos of/by Muffy Aldrich
These two sweaters combine two of my favorite things from Bosie, the Glenugie Nep yarns and the color, Raasay Green.  For whatever reason, this combination seems terribly Scottish.  I feel like I should be on the lookout for Big Eric.

Supersoft and comfortable, but also durable, the Mens' Blue Mogganer Trawlerman is a thicker 4-ply.

A Fabulous New Tattersall from Mercer, and Their New Site!

Mercer & Sons has just added a brand new (and fabulous) tattersall, the Kent Plum Brushed Cotton Flannel Tattersall.   A marvelously attractive palette, it features a green, navy, plum check in their super soft brushed cotton flannel.   Both of my Kent Plum Tattersalls have a modified spread collar and I also had both of them shortened a bit.

Also, check out their newly designed website where they managed to keep their unique and special feel while improving ease and online storefront.  And in addition, production time is now much faster.

Dubarry of Ireland Galway Boots in Mocha

Photos by Salt Water New England, D1
Dubarry of Ireland has a fantastic and sophisticated new color, Mocha.
This is my tenth year of collaborating with Dubarry, and many pairs later, I only love their boots more.   From September to April, I wear almost no other footwear - tall boots, short boots, and those in between.  And in the warmer weather, their sailing boots.  All waterproof and all tough as nails.  Made in Portugal.
