The Huntsman Mackintosh in Fawn

Muffy Aldrich in Her Huntsman
Mackintosh coats are made in a factory outside of Glasgow, Scotland,  using the same process first used in the early 19th century. Each coat is made entirely by hand and by one person start to finish.

The classic Mackintosh coat is made of two layers of cotton bonded together with rubber which is then dyed to perfectly match the outer cotton layers.  They are sewn, sealed and lapped by a rubber solution applied by finger, making the garments waterproof.

Flattering and crisp, they are perfect for the walk to work or watching outdoor events in drizzly weather.

  1. A decade ago, I would have said that Mackintosh was a damn sight better than Burberry's, the latter having had succumbed to the fripperies of fashion 20 years ago, however passing by the Mackintosh boutique in London a few years ago, I saw that they themselves had started collaborating with high fashion houses like Jil Sander and Martin Margiela, with the ridiculous fashion retail price points and smaller sizes (heavy sigh). So, I am glad to see that Cordings is carrying a "reasonable" Mackintosh model that I can wear.

  3. I love this blog for many reasons. One in particular is the discovery of so many high quality items of clothing, etc. Mainstream shopping is just awful! --Holly in PA

  4. Hi Muffy: I noticed you still shoot Canon and am wondering if you've transitioned to one of their mirrorless camera bodies and the associated lenses or, are you sticking with their DSLRs (for now)?

I shoot with Nikon DSLRs and their F Mount glass and have not transitioned as yet.

  5. I have tried a few mirrorless cameras but did not like using them at all, and bought another Canon instead (Canon EOS 250D / Rebel SL3).
