The thermos, was most likely made in Norwich Conn. The sturdy sweater was a knit, no? Look at those sleeves. I’d bet it was hand made. The pipe, was it from the Owl Shop? And that chapeau...? It looks like it came over on the Mayflower.
The picture evokes how wonderful it must have been to be there--hence the big grin on his face--the mournful cry of loons, the rustling along the banks of moose, the splash of a nearby salmon....I can imagine how idyllic it must have been...complete peace and serenity.
Perfection to be sure! I must confess, my Owl Shop pipes, Bean Crusher hat, Submariner, and old Thermos still do their job exactly the way they were meant to! Thank you for everything!
As I read this I was about to call out the LL Bean Crusher (can't believe others remember it!), the Rolex Submariner and sweater but it is all covered by loyal and obviously infomed readers. The post and the comments made me smile! Imagine how simple all these accoutrements are; no need to recharge, fiddle with buttons and screens - just solid, multi-generational, rugged goods that are excellent examples of the KISS principle!

ReplyDeleteI can't recall the last time I saw someone smoking a pipe.
ReplyDeleteIs he in the bow of a Grand Laker? Which pond?
