ReplyDeleteBath, Maine. For a long time, the Bath Iron Works was the largest employer in Maine, bolstered by U.S. Navy ship building contracts. The old joke was that when Sen. Mitchell visited (and that gives you an idea of when I first heard the joke), he asked the foreman, "How many people do you have working here?" "Oh, about half of them, I should think," came the reply.
