Dear Muffy,
This is more of an FYI than question, as a SWNE fan favorite is being discontinued: https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a65960176/volvo-v90-cross-country-station-wagon-dead/
I love the blog. Keep posting!
Regards,

"...leaving just the V60 left." I hope that's the worst prose I read all day, but I don't think it will be.
ReplyDeleteBooo.
ReplyDeleteOMG! All youth soccer and lacrosse programs in New England will immediately cease operations as Prep Moms refuse to drive KIAs.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the Moms can switch to Rovers. All these soccer lacrosse etc references. Kids like best to play hockey. But parents don’t want to be inconvenienced by early morning rink rat hours. Those days are over.
DeleteDoes anyone know who makes a really good cotton waffle henley for women?
ReplyDeleteThere should be more estate cars.
ReplyDeleteHere, here!
DeleteSad. All the cars look the same. At one time you new a car by a certain look. I saw a car go by and did not realize it was a Volvo until I saw the emblem. At one time you could tell because of the looks of the body.
ReplyDeleteWell… once upon a time it was a little tricky to distinguish one fin from another.
DeleteA Subaru Outback fills in nicely!
ReplyDeleteI loved my previous Outbacks but now Subaru seems to be designing them to look like some kind of off-road military vehicle.
DeleteSorry. True Prep just doesn’t drive, eat or wear anything Japanese. It’s a thing.
DeleteThe generation just before the current generation of True Prep was the driving force behind the sushi restaurant explosion in Manhattan.
DeleteWell, my wife (reluctantly) switched to Subaru when MB longroof quality went down-drain, and never looked back. Quite happy
DeleteOur prep school lots are filled with Subarus, old and new.
DeleteDear Muffy, please suggest alternative to Volo as its new owners claims are dubious. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAnon 12:45 you are frighteningly off-base when it comes to Japanese cars.
ReplyDeleteMy last name, ahem, is 12:46, not 12:45, and if my asute observations about Japanese products frighten you, it may be because you consider yourself "Preppie" and have a Toyota in your garage. I will pray for you.
DeleteTo be clear, I strongly dislike Japanese cars. I’m as far from a prep as you could possibly imagine. I am, however, surrounded by them and have been most of my life. Take a deep breath
DeleteThe Japanese have been dutiful stewards of prep and trad for over a half century. Let's give them some credit. Not to mention their approach to producing anything is that it be meant to last - a corner stone of the trad ethos. Just calling it like I see it.
DeleteAnother way of looking at it is that they have been stewards of a different sort of bastardization was wasp attire.
DeleteAnon 1:40 perhaps you are confusing urban/upscale money with prep ?
ReplyDeleteEnd of an era! So very sad!
ReplyDeleteI am lucky to have my 2022 V60 CC. I’m doing all I can to keep him “Thor” in top notch shape, until Volvo comes to its senses and releases a brand new AWD estate to rival the 240, 740, XC70. I will never drive a Subaru!
ReplyDeleteI miss the Rover 3500 sedan guy here.
ReplyDeleteBlue Train? I hope you are ok.
DeleteCalling the recent generations of Outbacks wagons is a stretch, but the coming 2026 model isn't a wagon in any sense. However, it is ugly.
ReplyDeleteFor those of us who love wagons, I think we're down to the Audi A6 and Mercedes E450 in the United States. Even those two companies have eliminated the more economical offerings like the A4 and E350.
