  1. I've always worn socks with my boat shoes, usually wool Wigwams and raggs, never cotton crew. I think sockless feet in any shoes is a terrible look popular as it might be.

  2. AND an untucked shirt AND rumpled khakis. Cancel my subscription. :-)

  3. After a day on the slopes, believe it or not, boat shoes and real thick socks are a good break from plastic ski boots..

  4. Nice stoneware mug. But yeah - the untucked shirt and rumpled khakis are cringe. (I usually wear white footies with my boat shoes, if I’m not on a boat.)

    1. I was being facetious above. I like the untucked shirt and rumpled khakis.

  5. Everyone does it. Few admit it.

  6. To me, boat shoes with a white athletic sock or ragg sock is perfectly acceptable, especially during the in-between months of Spring and Fall. A white sock with a boat show always makes me think of the first pic of PJ O'Rourke from this Ivy Style article. https://www.ivy-style.com/p-j-orourke-an-ivy-icon.html

PJ is an unsung style icon.

  7. Sockless is best with shorts on the boat or beach - especially if your boat shoes have mesh sides and synthetic insoles like my several pairs of Sebago Clovehitches. With chinos, socks are more comfortable, practical and (importantly in company) are more hygenic.

  9. I am SHOCKED! Deck shoes are only to be worn with airhose!

  10. Decks hoes are only to be worn sockless...maybe with a generous dose of some pleasant smelling powder to keep feet from sticking to the shoes on a hot day..

  11. If there is no WEARING of socks with boat shoes, how can you have the BURNING of the socks?

  14. As long as they are the "right" socks...no harm done.
