I drove down to the mouth of Maine's Kennebec River to Popham Beach the other day. I hadn't been there for maybe forty years and saw people there both horseback riding and taking dips in the ocean like in your photos.
Couple of questions -- Is that horse rolling around in the sand because s/he likes it, or what? Was that photo of the bare-legged teenage girls taken during an EXTREME January thaw?
My father was Yale ’49. He and his roommate entered J. R. Dinsmore in the house squash competition. Dinsmore "defeated" my father in the first round and my father’s roommate in the second round. Dinsmore was in the quarterfinals before everyone realized he wasn’t a real person.
Of course, I realize Winstonworth is real and so the comparison is not quite apples to apples...
WOOT ... my cousin went to Avon Old Farm !!!

ReplyDeleteThe swimming was New Year's Day Polar Plunge, and yes, the horse likes to roll in the sand.

... in the manner of one "Andrew Reid" making long distance collect phonecalls to my private number.
DeleteI like the juxtaposition of people skating and hitting the surf in bathing suits.
