Here are my rules:
- When going out, I have to wear every (seasonally appropriate) item I own once before I can wear any again in each category - shirts, sweaters, trousers, outerwear, etc..
- This includes pocketbooks/totes, boots/shoes, scarves, hats, and gloves.
- Once I have worn everything in a given category, I can start again, until I exhaust most categories.
- When I have duplicates, they count as different items.
I will be sharing photos as I go.

I like this idea!
ReplyDeleteThis could be a helpful guide to clothing you might want to give away, if you run into things you just don’t feel like wearing in sequence. I would have difficulty with sweaters, particularly the heavier-weight wools, because it doesn’t often get cold enough to wear them.
ReplyDeleteI’ve done the same thing for years. I call it “the rotatio”. My wardrobe is not a robust as yours, Muffy, but it helps wear clothing and accessories evenly. It also ensures I’m not seen in public wearing the same favorite garment too much.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea, Muffy, and can't wait to follow along!
ReplyDeleteThis is a tough challenge for someone who has a large wardrobe. Presumably, you will not be buying/receiving more clothes, footwear or accessories until it is completed. :)
ReplyDeleteSo I understand, if you have one foul weather jacket, you can wear on repeat, but if you have 40 sweaters, you have to wear 1-40, before you can wear #3 again? I like it!
ReplyDeleteThat's the idea!
DeleteThat will be quite a feat and probably impossible for myself as my wardrobes are made up of so much that has been handed down from generations past . Our garments are often altered or repaired rather than buying terribly much new items .
ReplyDeleteI do try to do this as well! Sometime a bit more of a challenge than I remembered though! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea. I've never done that challenge. But I have a rule: I give away at Christmas-time any garment I haven't worn in the past year. It keeps my wardrobe relatively lean and functional. And it ensures that I attend at least one black tie event per year so I can hang on to my tuxedo! :)
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to do this each season. It is difficult - reason being a ridiculous amount of clothing, coupled with the fact that I work from home. We go out often, but not enough for me to get through my entire seasonal inventory. *sigh* life's problems. :) Holly
