  3. Pail and shovel on the beach is pushing the season a bit, but we all understand the appeal of beach engineering.

  4. Every day now, I thank my lucky stars that I'm privileged to live here and that I get to see these wonderful, peaceful pictures you provide us, Muffy, as opposed to the horrors in the Ukraine. Thank you for reminding us how fortunate we are.

    1. Nice comment Susan. I say to the younger generation, can you imagine living in Ukraine right now? I want them to 'think' about the privilege of being free.

  5. Amen to Susan's comments. Pray for Ukraine. Send aid, if you can, through reliable sources like the American Friends Service Committee.

  6. International Rescue Committee and Catholic Relief Services are also agile, effective, and efficient
aid organizations. They are helping Ukrainians both inside the country and those fleeing to neighboring countries.

  9. As others noted these scenes exude a peaceful normality removed from the death and horror in Ukraine πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦. Praying for peace. The International Rescue Committee (IRC) does great work. Thank you for the lovely images Muffy.

    1. Yes, IRC, CRS, when you evaluate such aid agencies look at their track record. Are they active in places like Afghanistan, Iraq, Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Sudan, Haiti? Some have offices in these places. Some work with long standing local partners. This is more likely the case in the current situation. The partners would be in Romania, Moldova, Poland, and in Ukraine itself.

  11. May I ask what you are paying for gasoline and diesel these days?

    1. I live in Northern Virginia. Yesterday, I paid $3.599/gal. for regular. Premium was $4.299 I think. I saw some prices that were higher and some that were lower. None were over $4 for regular.

In June 2006, it was $2.999/gal. when we bought our third Volvo. In June 2008, prices were above $4/gal. for a month. In December 2008, they were as low as $1.57/gal., briefly. They were almost that low in the spring of 2016. That was back when I was driving 40 miles round trip to work and back but I never spent more than $40 a week for gas.
