    1. No besmirching of Maine or M, SW here in slightest, but exterior shots actually filmed in Mendocino, CA!

  2. Beautiful pictures. Got to get to Maine before summer is over. And look at those lobsters fresh from the sea! There was an old joke in the days when Ed Meyers of Damariscotta pioneered shipping fresh Maine lobsters from Maine to anywhere in the country. Once customer wrote back, "We liked the red ones better than the green ones."

    1. As a landlubber, I am interested in why that is funny - do they actually taste the same? Or is it something else...thanks in advance.

    2. Almost 100% of lobsters are green while they are alive - a rare few are blue, yellow, calico, orange, spotted..... Cooked lobsters, regardless of color will be red.

    3. I am not really sure of all the details, but the story goes that Ed Myers (I misspelled his name above) shipped some uncooked and some cooked lobsters to some elderly midwestern ladies who had never seen fresh Maine lobsters before. Little did they know that when alive lobsters are deep green, when cooked they turn bright red. The poor ladies tried both raw lobsters (unknowingly, apparently) and cooked lobsters. They liked them cooked better. A little bit of dry Maine humor. There are many appreciations of Ed Myers online..

  3. The version I heard was that a package of lobsters was sent but the sender never heard from the recipient. When the sender called to inquire, the recipient said, "yes, we received them. I didn't want to call because by the time they got here they were dark green so we had to throw them out."
