ReplyDeleteHear good things about Jack Donnelly, will have to give them a try. I am done with J Press - their styles are nice and their customer service is US-based and responsive, but quality is average and sizing is all over the place. J Press these days is just marketing-driven and living off their heritage.

ReplyDeleteYou are right. When temps fall to the 20’s and below, there are far better options than standard khakis.
DeleteAnother vote for khakis here, but I sometimes go with tropical-weight wool with a blazer or seersucker sport coat.
ReplyDeleteI agree with khakis. They are distinctive, now that everyone is wearing too-tight golf pants to the office. I tried Duck Head 'Gold School' khakis with the iconic yellow stamp on the back pocket. I find that the quality is very good, with cut consistent with the originals.
ReplyDeleteI wear khakis to the office every day but everyone else wears jeans. I would prefer to wear dress slacks. But just think if everyone wore dress pants again and khakis took their rightful casual role for weekends and perhaps summer Fridays. JDV

ReplyDeleteJack Donnelly 001 Relaxed Fit are close to Brooks Brothers khakis from the 1960a and early 1970s before BB became a mass merchandiser.
ReplyDeleteI vary between cotton khakis, wool trousers with a crease if I need to look nicer, and pants that are a little more modern/outdoorsy but that are comfortable and accepted in our office.
ReplyDeleteKhakis: Jack Donnelly, a couple of old pair of Bill's, occasionally a pair of reds.
Wool: from a variety of sources. Mostly department stores like Nordstrom.
'Other:' Patagonia, Kuhl, Lululemon. The latter's classic fit trousers feel very comfortable and look better than I expected.
