Birds and Boats along the April New England Shore

Photos of/by Muffy Aldrich
April along the New England coast is when everything comes alive.

On the human side, big equipment is brought in to haul all kinds of stuff to the islands, rake the beaches, and do coastal repairs.  People are out too, picking up trash on beaches, working on boats,  flexing their sailing muscles again.

On nature's side, shorebirds are seemingly everywhere, even horseshoe crabs (Limuli) start to make their first appearances.  And you can get some really wild coastal storms.

All in all, just an energetic time along the coast.

  1. Wonderful atmospheric pictures giving a true feel for what spring is like on the New England shore. I can almost feel the wind!
