The familiar, the North Sea Shetland, the four-ply version of the favorite standby. For those who love their Shetlands but need a wee bit more warmth. Shown here in particularly good colors of Pineshadow and Heather.
And the new, the Ganjey, in their own unique dialect, Bosie's take of the classic but obscure Gansey, a style worn by the fishermen from the old herring fleets from the Northeast of Scotland. Offered in three colors, this wool is from a hardy British Breed of sheep, read that not as soft as other wool. But not super rough either. Shown here in Cheviot Ecru White.
The other new style is the Blue Mogganer Explorer in Oceana Blue. A 6-ply chunky Shetland, the bad boy of Shetlands.
While these are for the lads, they are eminently abscondable by the lasses. All made in Scotland.

Superb garments! Thank you! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteAre these appropriate for layering? Layering is key, as you well know.
ReplyDeleteI wear a tattersall or Oxford shirt underneath my Shetland jumpers. If it's cold, I'll wear a wool paddock jacket, field coat or heavy peacoat plus a cashmere scarf if necessary. You could wear a merino crewneck instead of a shirt for even more warmth.
DeleteThe menswear buyer told me recently that Cordings won't be stocking any Shetland jumpers this year. It is now ridiculously difficult to buy Scottish-made Shetland jumpers in London. I've just ordered a dark green Harley from Farlows and the only alternative is brown.
ReplyDeleteHow would you describe the difference between the 4 and 6 ply? More a distinction in feel, or warmth, or both?
ReplyDeleteBoth. The 6-ply is thick and spongy. Very soft and quite lovely.
