Love the photograph! A few of these items, or ones in the same constellation, comprise my own at-home wardrobe following the usual change of clothes Monday through Friday and during weekends. Interestingly, my Pennsylvania-North Carolina family members all dressed like this in cooler weather although the words prep, preppy, ivy, and trad were never used. Who knew?
Andrew hit the nail on the head. We have worn ( in the 80's) many of he items pictured. I agree that adding turtlenecks, chamois and the Bean Field Coat, round out the list.
This was and still is the real deal! It runs parallel to currently driving a Volvo 240DL wagon…classics never go away since they are built to last! Vive le Volvo!!!
It might be fun to check out Bill NIghy's tips on men's fashion via youtube. He is always so beautifully dressed and has some very minimal, practical ideas on what it takes to be well dressed.
Bean's Flannel-lined Baxter State Parka was a campus Winter staple and still in my closet along with newer "technical" jackets. Still my favorite choice!
Also 2020s winter weekend wear
ReplyDeleteAll of these items are wonderful to wear today!

ReplyDeleteMIA: cotton turtlenecks, chamois flannel, Bean field coat with the button-in insulated liner. The latter two are still staples for me.

ReplyDeleteI have all that swag; everyone in my family does, as well. Pop your collars!!!
ReplyDeleteFlannel shirt and a Norwegian sweater in the eighties indeed . Guilty as charged ...

ReplyDeleteYep, my 80s working casual wardrobe! Actually...still my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteLots of good things. A bit strange when people wear them all together though.
ReplyDeleteIt was a little cliché 40 years ago. Times to change graduall.
