I am saddened by the destruction to New Harbor and Pemaquid Point and have seen various terrible pictures in a variety of places. That the brick bell house next to the lighthouse was demolished by wind and waves is unbelievable. My prayers go out to all the local residents dealing with the clean up. I would not want to figure out how to clear New Harbor of all those bobbing roofs, floating back and forth and causing more damage. And another storm tomorrow! Thank you Muffy for giving us an excellent picture of the storm's impact.
Rebuilding efforts will be daunting, particularly along the shore-fronts. Many piers and ramps have been washed completely away. Obtaining permits and finding contractors to rebuild, if even possible/allowed, is being reported now as a six year backlog in some places.
Maine has been hit hard these last two storms. Docks were ripped apart; buildings ripped off of foundations etc. I hope the tourists coming this Spring will be patient while visiting out coastal communities.
More strong easterlies to come tomorrow
