Like Damariscotta's 'downtown', Gardiner, Maine up the Kennebec River before you get to Augusta is a former mill town that has renewed their downtown into a welcoming and varied assortment of brick-faced stores, apartments and facilities for the public to enjoy. Last Saturday evening's Christmas parade had more than a thousand in attendance to see and cheer on the gaily lighted floats and participants. Cheers of "That's my daughter (or son) !!" rang out from assembled parents bringing gales of laughter and cringes from the children so identified.
I am very familiar with Damariscotta, and would like to move to that area, South Bristol, Bristol or Round Pond. 'Nice to see the SAAB and sorry they are no longer making cars.
