Having seen a number of your father's photos of candid moments and varied illustrious folks on this site, this image stands out: I never had an inkling that he was such a talented portrait photographer, as well. Certainly his subject here made it easy.
Lovely. A well proportioned face that Michelangelo would have admired.
Photo could have been taken last week.
This photograph proves that not everyone has been blessed with the same gift of physical attractiveness. (A stroll through any crowded airport makes it easy to see who has won and not won the DNA sweepstakes.)
And as much as we'd all wish for "equity" and fairness amongst the way human beings look, it doesn't exist - has never existed, and probably never will exist. Like it or not, we are all subject to the whims of fate, and our genetic inheritance. Why? Nobody knows that.
I absolutely agree @Robert Reichardt and not even most charming smile will help @BlueTrain. Less than a smile will help this, what women (and men too), are doing today to their faces: botox, fillers etc. searching for youth and beauty, beauty they never had, even in their younger years...
Beautiful then and now.
ReplyDeleteYou are stunning. That is a face and profile for a 19th century Venetian cameo.
ReplyDeleteA portrait of elegance and beauty.
