Orange in Autumn - (How) Do you do it?

Photos by Salt Water New England
A friend once told me, "You don't have to be a Princeton grad to wear orange, but it helps." Do you wear orange in Autumn, and if so, how?

Here, Burnt Orange Guernsey Jumper:

  1. Orange year-round! I have orange jackets, sweaters, sneakers, bracelets, hats, watchbands. It pairs perfectly with chambray & linen in the summer and with jeans in the fall & spring. Orange puffer for the winter!

    1. Back when I attended Bevo High aka University of Texas at Austin, orange was worn only by the football team & the band. I wore a blazer & tie, my date a dress. It has evolved to everyone wearing orange. See no reason or restraint in it. Same applies for college stickers on vehicles. You ought to be so good...you don't have prove it.

  5. I love orange. I loved it growing up in Virginia, and I love it growing old in Austin. It is just a great color. For those of a certain sartorial bent, orange is the new pink. Hook 'em!

  9. Burnt orange seems to be fashion in "Old" England this autumn so my old John Smedley merino polo has just been liberated from the attic. Even my local Primark had lots of orange stuff (jumpers, puffer jackets etc) in the window. It's certainly a very welcome change from the usual black that everyone has been wearing for the last decade or so.

  14. Burnt orange, yes. Rust, yes. Otherwise a little orange goes a loooong way.

  15. As a former double tiger, HS and Princeton, orange has a place close to my heart.
Burnt orange and rust add to a palate so much more interesting than the standard
    reds.

  16. I like to incorporate orange in my accessories. For example, a favorite outfit involves a navy/cream stripe Breton with an orange scarf and orange Longchamp Le Pliage purse.

For summer this past year Seasalt Cornwall (makers of the most comfortable Breton tops!) had some sailor tees that had some orange stripes. I stocked up!

I also have an orange twinset which I enjoy wearing paired with jeans or khakis.
