One of our friends, the husband of one of my wife's schoolteacher friends, used to teach sailing at the Naval Academy. Oddly enough, he was from Nebraska. Even stranger, his career specialty in the navy was as a helicopter pilot.
A member of our larger family, now deceased, graduated from the Naval Academy, class of '37, and then attended seminary, serving as a naval chaplain until his retirement.
I forgot to mention that both of those gentlemen had sailboats. One of them lived on the water (that is, he had waterfront property). He once said that half the pleasure in owning a sailboat was looking out the window at it as it rode at anchor in the cove in front of their house. My father-in-law, on the other hand, who lived on the other side of the cove, had nothing but motorboats. He had several, some of which would still float.
