  2. My wife and I spent 3 days in Watch Hill a few years back and spent most of our time walking and looking at the shingle cottage architecture. The cottages are gorgeous to look at. However, having spent summers in one in Maine, they are are a money pit. The maintenance on a shingle cottage on the coast never ends. It is either painting or staining the shingles, or replacing the shingles that are loose or have fallen down. A lesson that I learned is to always use stainless steel nails, and use premium quality wood shingles. However, a shingle cottage is a thing of classic beauty.

  3. Watch Hill is wonderful. Beautiful example of a shingled New England beach house.
