  1. Love the contrast of images in this post -- birds of prey, geese, jam-making, quail eggs, and a wonderfully cuddly-looking sheep.

  2. I especially like the picture of the grapes and the dog - the contrast of colors of the grapes themselves and the stems with that beautiful dog with that fantastic loving look in the background. As always, a nice way to spend a bit of time, thank you.

  4. Aaaahh, I did a little bit of falconry in my 30s. Has anyone read 'H is for Hawk'?

    1. I have not read it but based upon your recommendation I now will.

    2. Yes! Terrific book, as is Vesper Flights, her new collection of essays.

    3. Helen MacDonald is the kind of friend I would love to have, and Vesper Flights does look very promising indeed so I have just ordered it! I watched David Attenborough's program, "Extinction: The Facts", which was heartbreaking, and am re-doubling my efforts to do my bit for our planet.

  5. I know it's not a contest, but I like the fat, fluffy owl photo the best!

  6. I would have a difficult time picking just one picture for a favorite. Absolutely wonderful. Thank you.

  7. Those are cranberries being boiled, not grapes, right?

  9. We start off our summer vacations each year in Woodstock, VT. The Woodstock Inn has had a partnership with NE Falconry and it's something we've done that last few summers (excluding this one). There's something majestic about the entire experience.
