I especially like the picture of the grapes and the dog - the contrast of colors of the grapes themselves and the stems with that beautiful dog with that fantastic loving look in the background. As always, a nice way to spend a bit of time, thank you.
Helen MacDonald is the kind of friend I would love to have, and Vesper Flights does look very promising indeed so I have just ordered it! I watched David Attenborough's program, "Extinction: The Facts", which was heartbreaking, and am re-doubling my efforts to do my bit for our planet.
We start off our summer vacations each year in Woodstock, VT. The Woodstock Inn has had a partnership with NE Falconry and it's something we've done that last few summers (excluding this one). There's something majestic about the entire experience.
Love the contrast of images in this post -- birds of prey, geese, jam-making, quail eggs, and a wonderfully cuddly-looking sheep.

ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful photos. Thank you so very much!
ReplyDeleteAaaahh, I did a little bit of falconry in my 30s. Has anyone read 'H is for Hawk'?
ReplyDeleteI have not read it but based upon your recommendation I now will.
DeleteYes! Terrific book, as is Vesper Flights, her new collection of essays.

DeleteI know it's not a contest, but I like the fat, fluffy owl photo the best!
ReplyDeleteI would have a difficult time picking just one picture for a favorite. Absolutely wonderful. Thank you.

Those are cranberries being boiled, not grapes, right?
ReplyDeleteFirst goose photo shpws them picking over what looks like my driveway, which is all but paved with fallen black walnuts....
