  1. My grandparents lived on Freedom Song Road in Wiscasset all through my childhood. My grandfather worked at the BIW. I have many, many fond memories of summer vacations and, yes, even winter breaks there (COLD). I remember being able to walk up the road and pick bucket fulls of wild blueberries and raspberries. It was very “wild” in that part of town and we spent most days wandering around in the woods. I remember going to what I believe was Reny’s on Main Street, and of course Sarah’s. Red’s was not one of our stops; I think my grandparents found it too “busy”. There were trips to Skowhegan to the New Balance outlet, Dexter’s (I guess we needed a lot of shoes), Bath, Damariscotta… It is so comforting to see that it really hasn’t changed much since then from an outsider’s perspective.
