Still the Potting Shed

On this lovely Labor Day weekend, looking at what is now the potting shed, I am far too aware that in no time it will Mr. Hyde back to the snow shovel shed once again.  Bags of potting soil and extra pots will take their place in the back corner, while snow shovels and buckets of sand will take center stage.

Too soon, I know.  We still have Autumn.  But Autumn tends to go by in a glorious flash.

And just like the yards we pass with immense piles of newly split firewood in late July and August, it seems early.  Until it's not.

  1. Dang, I would have liked to have seen a few photos of your tool shed. I have a garden shed with a Palladian window ... but the interior, alas, suffers from ongoing disarray. Collars up !!!

    1. We have an old machine shed on our farm that has a connected room that I use as a potting shed. It’s one of my favorite places. Many many days I take a nice cup of tea with me to sit and make a plan for the day.

  4. You are right. Autumn goes by “in a glorious flash.” Distressed trees in the northwest corner are changing. It is all long sleeves once September breaks. And weekenders have used temperatures below 70 as an opportunity to sport their down vests. It is already decided Christmas this year will be at my sister’s - on the shoreline.

  5. It's been unusually cool here in the Blue Ridge Mountains for a good couple of weeks now. Our huge Black Oak tree in the back garden lost another large branch over Labor Day weekend, sadly. Still, it will provide a good head start for the coming autumn by way of the firewood given away to the usual neighbors.
