I think regional cities and university towns have an underappreciated value in creating strong communities, civic engagement, and social ties. Their decline hasn't helped anyone.
Well do I remember the EXIT coffee house. Started going there in 1965 as a junior in high school. I had a next door neighbor who warned my mother not to let my sister and I go there.. she later met a guy there and left her husband and kids.
Wonderful time machine as always Muffy!
