HEY FIRST!! LOL Great picture! The ONLY time I was able to see an eagle that close was inside a box brought in at the LSU vet clinic many years ago as he hurt his wing. Damn, they are huge.

ReplyDeletegreat photo. they fly over the Potomac River regularly now. My favorite bird 'find' locally are owls - heard often, seen infrequently.

We also had a local bald eagle (family, actually) in our neighborhood growing up and I never realized how special it was until I moved to a more urban area and never saw them. I grew up in northern Michigan and they are about as common as hawks of any species.
