Lovely... Did you wear a wreath of wild flowers in your hair for Midsummer and pick seven different wildflowers to put under your pillow Midsummer night to dream about... wait, you are already married... Love your Gustavian dining table!
Every well-appointed porch needs a Swedish flag! We too fly one along side the Stars and Stripes to remind my wife of (what I term) her "Sweduality." Except for a brief period in May when we fly the Norwegian flag in honor of May 17th, Norway's Constitution Day (May 17, 1814).
Such coincidence... I just purchased new Hessian and Prussian flags to replace the tattered ones we had flying. Both sides of my parent's families came over from there. (Then all the Prussian/Germans boys married Irish lasses here.)
Off my porch, I fly the British Red Ensign flag because, along with its maritime history, it was the first official flag of the British American colonies -- my house was built in 1721. On the porch are hand-me-down wicker pieces with repro blue batik cushions from Orvis, plus a heavy old Mission oak rocker, and three clay pots of red geraniums in the summer.
Thanks for sharing your family photos. When seen as children, its hard to refer to them as grandmothers.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
