Goulet Pens offers the Jinhao Model 159 on sale for $6.25 (regular price $12.50) that has a large barrel similar to a large Montblanc and it writes well. I do not take it on airplanes although even a full retail, leaving it on the plane would not be sleep disrupting.

I use Crane notecards and personal stationary.Atlantapetenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8714922182513339530.post-81091899222331519382023-11-02T19:11:07.014-04:002023-11-02T19:11:07.014-04:00Pens are like wands in Harry Potter ( “ the wand c...Pens are like wands in Harry Potter ( “ the wand chooses the wizard”). If the pen has a cartridge converter, I use cartridges and don't install until I am at my destination (I keep a Parker Jotter with a Fisher Space Pen refill in my personal bag in the event I need a pen en route). If I am traveling with a piston filler, I fill them up or use the piston to push the air out and keep them nib up. The air in the pen is what causes problems. I order it custom, name across the top. Can't recall the weight of the paper. It works pretty well. With broad or stub nibs, handwriting can get a little fuzzy because the paper tends to soak up more than a little fountain pen ink. andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17409031748621766854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8714922182513339530.post-62852882191974693952023-11-01T09:15:38.121-04:002023-11-01T09:15:38.121-04:00I like the G. There is Original Crown Mill in Belgium, Fabriano in Italy.

Clairefontaine/Exacompta/Rhodia paper, while pulp-based, responds very well to fountain pen ink because fountain pens used to be mandatory in French schools.

And then there is traditional Japanese Kozo/Washi mulberry paper, which is very tough yet lightweight, and also responds well to fountain pen and brush. Tomoe River paper has a cult following, but opinions diverge as to wether the new formulation under Sansei is as good as the old stock.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8714922182513339530.post-73206281026197468202023-11-01T03:05:46.902-04:002023-11-01T03:05:46.902-04:00I can confirm Clairefontaine is very good paper......I can confirm Clairefontaine is very good paper...as is Rhodia paper, which is owned by Exacta-Clairefontaine.
