Taking Out the Cashmere & Wool Cable Crew and Navy Shetland Gilet for Men from Cordings of Piccadilly

All Photos by/of Muffy Aldrich

Lush is the first word that comes to mind to describe this exceptional Cashmere and Wool Crew from Cordings.  It is thicker than one might expect and the cable proportions are exactly right.  And it is very soft.  Made in Scotland, it also comes in Blue, Chocolate, Loden, and Navy.

And it, combined with Cordings' new Ebury Shetland Gilet, worked especially well for this bright, but cold day, and handled the brisk wind off the water.  The Gilet, made of 100% wool woven in Lancashire, has a 100% cotton tattersall lining, which happens to be an exact match with one of their tattersall shirts.  It is lightly quilted, so it is a bit warmer, and comes in the Navy shown here, but also in a Green and a Brown.

While these are garments are made for Men, they also work well as unisex items as they are not overly long.

  1. A question for anyone who knows the definitive answer: if I place an order with Cordings to be sent to the US, how do I know how much customs duty I will owe? Does the $800 rule apply? (no duty under that amount). If so, and my order is for $1000, how much would I owe. No doubt, some viewers have dealt with Cordings or other UK companies, so I’m hoping I’ll get an answer.

  4. Ordrered a toddler boy sweater. Customer service was impeccable. It was too small ...followed their size guidelines. However, it cost prohibitive to return via FedX or UPS. DHL service in our city is poor, furthermore I am not going to USPS. Well, his mother has another cake in oven & expect the little brother to make good use of it. Caveat Emptor about buying items overseas & returning.
