Remarkable photos. I'm in my early 30s now and have loved Eric Sloane's work since discovering it late in my teens (Diary of An Early American Boy was the gateway). Before that it was C. Keith Wilbur and Edwin Tunis, both found on forgotten shelves of the local library or buried in discard piles at the community book sale. Certainly consider Mr. Sloane's descriptions of the land and local community foundational to my current way of thinking. He had a keen eye and a deft pen.
I agree with everything you say. I greatly admire Eric Sloane--both his paintings and his insightful books with their fabulous sketches. I also greatly respect C. Keith Wilbur. Muffy's father was privileged to know Mr. Sloane and we are the beneficiaries of these photographs which give us a glimpse into Sloane's character.
