Great pictures as always! You always seem to be in the right place at the right moment to catch something very funny. What are all those young people doing sitting in the street doing? playing cards? near the Volvo marked "Senior."
Smart phones are the death of eye contact, intimate conversation, and emotional connection. I can't seem to live without it, unfortunately. For work, for safety - do payphones even exist anymore? Heck, even ordering at a restaurant requires scanning a code these days, which makes me reconsider the restaurant. But it's the first thing I'd do away with if I could. I've found myself watching Newhart and remembering when the world felt simpler. And better dressed. But I don't remember going around every day back then remarking about how simple life was and how sporting these pleated corduroy knickers were. So was it simpler? Or were there just as many lookbackers (a new word I just made up, patent pending) longing for the simplicity of the 50s? This comment took a detour...
I bought the series on eBay. There are a bunch of boxed sets on there - one is $39 with free shipping. I figured it would take me a whole lot longer than a few months to get through the full 8 seasons, making it less expensive in the long run to just own the whole thing than subscribe to something. Which I'm not sure you can even find it streaming right now... I am a nostalgia junkie. It brings me right back to what, I've now decided, are indeed the good ol' days.
Hard to be absolutely certain but it looks a lot like a Whisp sailing skiff designed by Steve Redmond. Compare with this one: https://garywright.smugmug.com/Boats/Building-Whisp-spring-2018/
Loved all of these wonderful pictures, great lightening on the waves caught just before crashing. The white house with the urns on the front steps is quintessential fall in New England. Adored the Porsche.
So much to love is captured perfectly in these photos! Especially captivating are the wild turkeys, the sparkling choppy waters, the pop of orange adorning the stoop of the white house, the charming sailboat and the gentlemen in the roadster.
I always love these posts, Muffy! I'll need to do an "Around Town" of Locust Valley one of these days... or at least next summer!

DeleteHow are you watching Newhart? I've been trying to find a way to do so for a while and haven't had any luck!

DeleteLove that first vehicle. Have no idea what it is, but those two guys look as though they're having lots of fun. More power to them!
ReplyDeleteAn exceptionally good Around Town. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSheer perfection! Thank you so very much!
ReplyDeleteThe first car appears to be a 1912 Model D Franklin.
ReplyDeleteKeep the wild turkeys but please send me the gorgeous Porsche ASAP!
ReplyDeleteLove the little white sailboat! What make is it?

ReplyDeleteI love this time of year, Summer isn't quite finished and Fall is just starting to gently assert itself.
