  1. This will be fun to revisit during the dog days of winter. What a scorcher today in New England! You captured the scene along the CT shore nicely.

Here in Massachusetts, its mostly clam shacks, maxed-out beach parking lots, ice cream shops and arcades with old skee ball machines.

Glad for the return to normalcy after last summer's insurrectionist riots, government-imposed lockdowns and near-dystopian state.

  2. The orange day lilies in the second photo remind me of the driveway to my grandparents' house, which had a similar line of those bright, happy emblems of summer guiding the way.

    1. My parent's driveway entrance on the Cape was lined with orange day lilies. I'm now inspired to plant some at our house!

  3. Another lovely series, but it needs dogs. I remain faithful to SWNE in the certainty that future Days About Town hold the promise of dogs.

  6. Was in Greenwich and Rye this weekend. Everyone was happy and enjoying themselves. Restaurants were packed. And the best thing of all NO MASKS. Hip hip hooray for Summer!!!!

  7. I was wondering where the usual old Land-Rover was until I spotted one. But it's one of those new-fangled ones, parked next to the black Volvo V-70 (also a new-fangled one). I doubt the owner will ever put it to much off-road use, like the old ones were perfect for. But undoubtedly it's warmer in the winter and the paint is better. It's faster, too, but 50 years ago, everything was faster than a 4-cylinder Land-Rover.

  8. Beautiful photos as usual! I loved the three ladies sitting together on the beach. It reminds me of when I was younger, and my grandmother and aunts would take me to the beach.

  9. The silver Boxster caught my eye; nearly bought one of similar vintage in Vienna, some twenty years ago, but decided to settle on a Saab instead. Still, brings back test-drive memories around the Ringstrasse one fine summer day with my buddy, "the Gooch". Fine automobile.

  10. Yes, it's true that life begins over again with the summer, and I particularly appreciated the two photos of the blue beach towel on the low wall.

  11. This all looks so serene, but boy is it HOT in central New England right now. Especially in a 326-year-old saltbox with no A/C. However, living in this place is so worth it that I'm not going to whine about the heat!

  12. Beautiful summer scenery in a great location. My neighbors are at their oceanfront Madison home now. I wish I was with them.
