  1. It looks as if would be useful on a hill or a boat as well as on a plain.

  2. I JUST received the navy with silver lettering purchased for a friend's boat warming gift. The single color looks very sharp!

  3. I have to say, this is a delight - so simple, so classic. Muffy, is this from LL Bean or have you found a new source? Many thanks!

  4. I personally like the original design because the colored trim fades and weathers over time, an appealing look. The simplicity of this is attractive, though.

Worth noting Bean also sells these in black, blue and olive, stitching is white.

    2. Monogram, yes. the seams that hold the bag together come hues other than white?

  6. I just "ran over" to L.L.Bean's site. They have it in solid black, too!

  7. I agree this is a more elegant simple look for the bag; having said that, I too prefer the colored straps (red for me, blue for DH, green for the dog bag). I could see these as gift bags for a wedding party or reunion- no need to worry about missing someone’s favorite color!

  10. I’m ordering the solid navy with monogram. It won’t show dirt!

  11. Astounding in its simplicity and traditional lines. Imagine the treasures one would store inside. Thank you, Muffy.

  12. I am going to exercise restraint.

  13. I bought these last year in solid black and solid natural. This is one case where it looks much better (and less fussy) without a monogram.

  14. I do love beige. For better or worse, I'm reminded of Pottery Barn's general aesthetic by the photo, but I trust the Bean brand to produce the tote with higher quality and less trend than PB. Beautiful simplicity. Thank you for sharing the photo.

  15. Steele makes a nice plain bag and it's made in America: bonus. I love their canvas laundry trolley.

  16. I love these. I bought one several years ago and had my initial monogrammed in the same natural color. I like how subtle it is, although it's more noticeable out in sunlight.
