L.L. Bean's New Maine Canvas Zip Pouches - Made in Maine

Photo by Salt Water New England
L.L. Bean has come out with a terrific new product, a Boat and Tote Zip Pouch.  Made from the same 24oz  canvas, and with YKK zippers and even a zipper pull made from their Bean Boot laces, they stand up on their own, go with everything, and are extremely reasonably priced.  And like their bags, they are made in Maine.

(I use them as inserts in pocketbooks.  The Natural version, which I have ordered but not yet received, will go well with canvas or leather bags.)

  4. I recently had a most unfortunate situation with L.L. Bean. I ordered a small, zip-top tote embroidered with my initials. I received it promptly but it was shaped more like a wedge than a rectangle and did not have a zippered top. I called customer service, they said to keep the one I had until I heard from them. I never heard from them. They promptly sent me another one that was exactly like the first one. I gave up and sent them both back. I've given up on the L.L. Bean tote and bought a different brand. I have not given up on L.L. Bean. I'm blaming this on the virus.

  6. The totes and pouches are great value for 24oz cotton canvas, especially as they are made in Maine. Unfortunately, LL Bean's international shipping charges are high. Add in EU tariffs and VAT to double the cost. Britain needs a post-Brexit free trade agreement with the US asap.

  7. I love that they're Maine/USA made. I just wish the label wasn't so prominent. Bean seems to be slapping prominent labels on a lot of their products lately and that has deterred me from purchasing them. I wish they would reconsider this practice. I don't care to be free advertising for them. As you said, they make great inserts in handbags and such. Without the prominent label they'd make a cute clutch. Thanks for sharing.

    1. I agree about the labels...too tacky for my taste even though the label on these pouches isn't too gaudy. I don't purchase from LL Bean anymore because of their business acumen but two or three years ago I purchased an anorak that had the gaudy label on it and I was able to easily remove it with a seam ripper. My husband did the same.

    2. I removed the smallish LL Bean label on my new boardshorts with my seam ripper just yesterday! They're nice shorts though...

  8. I've wondered if the labels could be removed without ruining the appearance of the item. Good to know it does work.
