A Once and Future Hotspot

Photos by Salt Water New England
It seems so unlikely that we will be getting any Newport  shots like these this summer.   How quickly things change.

  1. Oh Wow-these are great! Remember sitting outside on that big lawn at Castle Hill with my Pina Colada watching the 12-metres sailing out during one of the last America's Cup Races out of Newport. It's also the first place I ever had escargot-love my garlic flavored rubber bands! Love the vintage watercraft and some of my favorite Newport haunts! Can't wait to go back someday!

  5. Thank you for sharing. So beautiful, but a few pangs of sadness when I think about what will be missing this season.

  6. So many fun things to do in Newport! Love seeing all the grand "cottages" from the last turn of the century. They are so amazing. Love the restaurants and the bars. Love visiting the gardens and watching the sailboats. Once even went on a ghost tour! Sadly probably won't visit this summer due to the pandemic. But I will visit through my coffee table books and hope that someday the invisible monster that haunts us all will be conquered.

  8. Second home owners and visitors were told by residents to stay away from New England a few weeks ago. So, after such negativity and resentment, why would they want to return? Who can blame them for spending their money at home or where they are welcome all year round?

  9. Lots of casually turned out folks, I think I saw only one navy blazer in the whole series.

Did I also spy our blogger/hostess as well? Wearing a red cap that day?
