A Reader Question: What did people think of The Crown (Season 3)?

A reader question for the community:
Season three of the Netflix show The Crown came out last night.  I am wondering what others thought, is it worth watching?  I am not currently a Netflix subscriber but will buy a month if The Crown is good.  I loved season one but only liked season two.

  2. With all the new faces - it took a while to figure out who was who (other than the queen)...good first episode though

  4. Watched the first two episodes last night. I think they may have aged the Queen, Philip et al a bit too much, as season 3 picks up literally 2 years after season 2. Of course, I don't know how far the production extends in season 3...the Falklands? Meghan Markle? Prince Andrew's no doubt very uncomfortable conversations with Her Majesty re: certain recreational activities?

    1. Agree about the aging. Not sure about Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret either. Bit over the top. PA

  5. Very entertaining and worth the watch! We binged about five episodes on a cloudy cold and rainy Sunday.

  6. It is very good...Except for Clancy Brown, who plays LBJ. Worst Texas accent ever. Why can't they at least find some one from Texas, or at least the South to play Southerners? Don't they know, we pick-up on something wrong in every sentence?

    1. He nailed LBJ's Texas crudeness perfectly.

  7. The first episode was very good. My only complaint is that I can’t seem to overcome the queen’s eyes changing from blue to dark brown... especially since the queen has blue eyes, maybe I’m the only one bothered by this little detail.

    1. Well, doesn’t the whole series require a suspension of disbelief as it relates to personal appearance? I can find many more ways than just her eyes in which Olivia Coleman does not look like the Queen. She is not the Queen.

    2. Sartesky, my wife hates Olivia Coleman as the Queen. She agrees, " Just doesn't look like the Queen."

    3. Claire Foy didn't look like the Queen either. It's called "acting."

  8. One must really take this series with a grain of salt. The author slants things to make a point here and there. There are numerous examples of incorrect assumptions and things that are completely made up. Many people have written articles comparing what was depicted in "The Crown" to what was actually fact. So while it may be interesting to watch, please remember it's historical fiction and don't take everything as fact.

  9. Ms. Colman has seamlessly slipped into her role. I'm quite delighted. That said, though, I don't remember the Queen as that gloomy in the early 60s. I hope she perks up a bit in subsequent episodes.
