Lambswool V-Neck Jumper from Cordings of Piccadilly - Made in Scotland

Photos by Salt Water New England
For some, Lambswool V-neck jumpers are seen as a utility, a desideratum.  Lightweight, comfortable, and warm, they are what to wear around the house, to the office, or out.  Neither casual nor formal, they capture the best of both.

Cordings offers a Platonic ideal of this item in an array of tasteful colors.  Theirs is fully fashioned, with set-in sleeves, and is made in Scotland.   A highly functional garment, you cannot have too many.

  1. Pink and green is such a beautiful combination. Thursday I wore a pink and green silk scarf and a lady commented how beautiful it was and that she loved that pairing of colors as well.
On the topic of tasteful colors ( as you noted in your comment), I would like to know how others define tasteful colors. I know what I consider to be tacky or cheap but I never seem to be able to find an accurate description for others when they ask me to explain. There are pastels that are cheap vs tasteful so I can't just tell someone to avoid pastels. Many of the colors that LL Bean uses in my opinion are not tasteful. Their pinks remind me of cheap big box store pink, their navy is not a true deep navy and I don't care for their yellowish cream as it looks cheap vs a tasteful ecru. This is one of the reasons I don't shop at Bean anymore. So, how does one define or describe a tasteful color to someone who doesn't know the difference?

    1. That is hard to describe....this pink is tasteful, that pink is not. I see my husband with his eye roll, but I do know what you're saying. I can't give an accurate description either. I think you have to have an eye for detail and just an innate capacity for color and design. I would say as close to nature as possible...but nature itself is quite variable. In other words...I have no idea! But I do know that green is gorgeous!

  2. Cordings quality is superior. Make sure you check the sizes as I find English Larges to be a bit small than we are used to. Where is that shirt from?

  4. Sure the sweater is great, but that carpet is wonderful. Looks like several of mine with just the right amount of age and wear.

  5. Lambswool sweater is essential for me. During the winter I wear one everyday to the office.

  8. Please ask Cording's to bring back their Shetland jumpers which were dropped for AW18/19. I purchased a navy Shetland from Farlow's in January and the quality is nowhere near as good.

    1. Many thanks. Cording's Shetlands, heavy moleskin jeans and tattersalls are my cold weather "uniform". Ironically, it's probably easier to buy Shetlands, especially with saddle shoulders, in New York and Boston than London or other British cities.
