  1. I am quickly turning into one of those old ladies who prefers the company of dogs to people. Love this post.

  2. Goldens are truly amazing dogs! My golden, Josie, was so intelligent and I never had to keep her on a leash even though I would use one in unsafe areas. She brought me her leash and my shoes every morning- anxious to walk. I took her to work with me every day and she never strayed and I hiked with her across the Appalachians and she always maintained exactly 10 paces ahead of me and would wait for me when I fell behind. The picture of the muddy golden made me laugh as it reminded me of the day Josie decided to wade in a very stinky waterhole ( she loved anything stinky!) and we had to endure the stench of rotten eggs on the drive home ( I think it was worse than skunk).

  3. I forgot to mention in my other post that if you are a dog lover like I am, you may enjoy " Dog Songs: Poems" by Mary Oliver.

  8. Retrievers are just about perfect companions. Standard and toy Poodles come in a close second.

  9. Been through it - 14 years can pass as quickly as the time it took to view these photos. Lost my Abby at 12 years just about this time last year. What I wouldn't give to have another 12 years with her all over again.

  12. That picture of the puppy and the rug brought back the way our Golden would fling himself at a carpet. This is a lovely, poignant, tribute for anyone who has loved a Golden and I am especially glad to see it enjoyed a long and happy lifespan.

  14. Tears, and thanks for the great montage. I've got a twelve year old black lab, and it kills me to think of her going. The other two labs, which are both two years old, will most likely do me in before I have to worry about it.

  17. Beautiful pics. Thank you. But what is that man holding next to his face with the white, twisted cord attached to it? :)

  21. God's two big mistakes:.... Dog's lives too short ....... avacado seeds too big ......

  22. I lost my beloved Golden, Holden, nearly 2 years ago at age 11. Best friend I've ever had. Miss him everyday. Your pictures rekindled fond memories and put a big smile on my face!
