Out and About

  1. Very nice. Overall autumn in southern New England a bit less vibrant than the norm, and late. This due, they say, to the multiple rainy days sine July 23... Some, however, of the reds are REALLY red.
    Same goes for the yellows.

    1. I really do think that either the eastern Connecticut seashore or the coast of Maine will be where I retire to someday. I only had the opportunity to live in New England for a short 2 years, and have been to literally every state on the eastern seaboard, but every time I see these photos I always think the same thing as any stresses dissipate: this is home.

  12. We only had a summer home in CT (grew up in NYS) but there's something about New England that feels more like "home" whenever I'm there. Love these photos--especially of old homes and the church. AnnZ in Fairfax, VA

  13. As a Los Angeles transplant but MA native, very much appreciate the solidarity of folks in New England raising the California flag during this difficult time in our state. Thanks to them for flying it and to you for showcasing them doing so!

    1. Beautiful sentiment, Anon. Well said. California should be in all our thoughts at this terrible time.

  15. Great photos. I particularly like the ones of the Series III Land Rover. I have owned 2 LR Discoveries that were very expensive to maintain. We now have a Honda CRV, not very preppy-but reliable. Ours has a University of Pennsylvania sticker and license with my initials (auyh, it's an ego thing).

    1. We love our CRV! We make it "preppier" by putting 2 pugs in the back seat!

  16. I'll have to put the magnetic PBS classical radio station "supporting subscriber" sticker back on, a set of nautical flag decals for the doors, an "I love Maine" sticker and a golden retriever for the back seat, then it will feel "preppier".
