  4. Stunning. I'm in Harvard country, but they could take a lesson on the benefits of leaving things alone.

  7. Fine photos. We used to walk around York Street liked we owned it. And we weren’t yet even teenagers. Alas, wither the local businesses that gave the neighborhood its character- Barries, Cutlers, David Dean Smith, the Army/Navy store next door to Cutlers where they sold rubber soled moccasins for $1.99 a pair, Gentree, Joe LoPresti cutting hair, Eveready Whitlock’s upstairs bookshop. The Yale Co-op. We remember the faces now of a couple of the people who worked there, over 50 years ago, and tolerated us. When we were there only to buy an occasional shirt and squeeze the skis.
We were regulars, starting about at age 11, at Yankee Doodle. Louis Lunch has its fans. It still does. But we were tight with the Doodle. Where to the end when you ordered a milk shake you were served a glassful. And the stainless container in which the shake was made was served alongside, with another inch or two of shake inside. Thanks for the memories.
