  1. My wife and i were visiting her father in Paris in the late seventies . As I was walking down the street one day a small crowd seem to gather around me and I finally realized that they were excited about my LL Bean boots which were pretty much identical to the ones you have pictured .
They apparently had never seen them before and according to my wife's translation they were totally enthralled .

  2. Got my first pair of LL Bean boots in 1977 - lasted 34 years - 2nd pair purchased in 2012 - lasted 4 years - hope the 3rd pair lasts a bit longer than that! Things have definitely changed with the quality.

  3. Bought my first and only pair in 1973. LL Bean replaced the bottoms in 2006 and I am still wearing them.

  4. I have had one pair of Bean's Maine Hunting boots since 1978 or '79. They were resoled twice by Bean's. The only things I've ever done to them is apply a waterproofer to the leather uppers each year and replaced the laces a few times. These are truly great boots and perfect for the New England climate.

  5. Observed Bean boots everywhere in London last winter. Some were on tourists no doubt, but many "locals" too. Was traveling light so left mine home with my Barbour - would have fit right in.
