  1. Came home yesterday to find a great blue heron perched on the boom end of our boat while two bald eagles flew past. The quietude of fall brings them all out.

    1. This is why proofreading is a good idea. I meant “birds are”.

  3. Oh! A closeup of my beloved black-faced sheep. And eating buttered toast, no less!

  4. Do people still hang rugs up and beat them like a rented mule to clean them, or is it all vacuum cleaners these days?

    1. They're hard to find unless they've been butchered into some kind of woods buggy. That one's either well cared for or well restored.

  7. There is much to like about an Out and About - the photography, the scenery, the subjects and for me it sometimes prompts me to remember things, people and times unrelated to the pictures. When I saw that roofline with the double windows, I immediately thought that if the Russians and Americans can work together and build a human ladder they can save the little boy and the submarine can get underway.
