  1. Finally a post with a goodly number of pictures of my favorite farm animals - pigs, hogs or if you prefer, swine. They are so very smart and they look just great, especially the red Durocs when you wash them and brush them and cover them with baby oil. Winning a ribbon at the county fair makes all the hard work grooming them for show worth it. Hard for some to imagine but there is a certain amount of bonding given the amount of time spent together. This time with your pig that has become sort of a pet takes a downward turn when you're not a real farmer but live on a few acres and your pig came to you through your Future Farmers of America club "pig chain" and you realize there is purpose for each type of farm animal and your is a pig and that means....

    1. I am with you, on the appeal of pigs. We haven't kept pigs in a few years, but now that the youngest is off to college, it is time to return to the sty. Now where did I put my copy of Whiffle?

    2. now at the fair auction time the kids decorate the selling animal with painted written messages or made into other animals like zebra's or tigers or a college logo, collars of silk flowers, hats/caps, glitter, large amount of nylon ribbons, etc...
