I too miss the Sail Loft Restaurant. And the nightly feedings at the Town Dock of Andre, the seal, who was the Honorary Harbor Master and of whom there is a beautiful granite statue across the harbor. I didn't spot the Concordia but the unfortunate Winnie of Bourne was recently restored there to perfection after a disastrous crash in Nantucket Harbor. http://www.oceannavigator.com/October-2014/Concordia-yawl-sinks-in-Nantucket/
Great photos! I have a question for the Mainers here. How do Maine winters differ from the immediate coast to more inland locations. Here on the Gulf Coast, proximity to the water can mean *several* degrees more comfortable year round. Is it the same there?
Winter on the water in the mid-coast area can be 5-10 degrees warmer than just 15 miles inland. Interior Maine even more. In the summer the reverse is true. This is from unscientific observation. This past winter, here down one of Maine’s beautiful peninsulas, we had a week with temperatures hovering around 0 degrees. Better than -10 or -15 inland but a different sensation than a difference of 15 degrees on the Gulf Coast.
That view of Rockport has to be one of the most famous New England vistas in the popular imagination.
ReplyDeleteJust perfect! Thank you so very much!
ReplyDeleteSpectacular - one of my favorite in Maine - and that Concordia Yawl - legendary history/provenance. Thanks
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Thanks for letting us visit -- makes an ordinary work day a little more sweet!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful harbor. I miss the Sail Loft restaurant. They had the best mini blueberry muffins anywhere.

DeleteThanks so much for that. Contemplating a move there and trying to get as much information as possible.
