Tweed and Tartan

  1. I'm ready for tweed and tartan! With the present humidity in Maine so thick the air actually looks wet, I find myself looking ever forward to drinking my morning coffee lakeside, leaves falling around the porch, and the air crisp, and cool, and DRY. (My imagination is throwing in a birch bark canoe carrying a golden retriever and a basket of decorative gourds in it for good measure.)

    1. I hear you about the humidity. Played tennis last night in Connecticut. I literally wrung my shirt out it was so humid. You are right, the air actually looks wet. Was hoping for a good cold front to set off storms and bring cooler weather. Alas, only heat lightening and more humidity.

Having serious thoughts about moving to Alaska. Does anyone know if they play tennis there?

    2. At freezing temperatures balls get stiff and don't bounce much...

  2. So first answer: yes please! Second answer: I'm in the PNW and between the fires, smoke, heat; I think the whole country could use a break. I find myself longing to use my Pendleton throws, cuddled up with my loved ones, just all CUDDLY! - hrplo

  3. I am in SWPA, my sister is in the Redding, CA area and we both wish we could share our respective weather conditions. We have had so much rain and humidity this season, do we swim like a fish or quack like a duck seems the question. We both long for our tweeds and woolies! West is in this for the long haul I fear! 4. Am I the only one who wishes that Barbour still used the Dress Gordon tartan linings?

We've had heavy rain in London over the last 24 hours but we need some more!

  5. I can only dream of tweed here in Texas in August, and with the closing of our only good men's shop, a 100 miles drive to Houston or a 300 mile drive to Austin will be the only time I can find Harris Tweed or a decent suit.
