Portland Press Herald: Coca-Cola acquires Moxie

The Portland Press Herald reported that Atlanta-based Coca-Cola is acquiring Moxie from a New Hampshire Coca-Cola bottler.  Time will tell if Moxie will be "Crown Piloted".

  1. Yuck!! The most vile swill I have ever tasted.

  2. Always loved Moxie. It's not easy to find out West, but available once you find a reliable source. I've also purchased via the web, but it's more fun to find it in places like a nostalgia-themed store in downtown Portland or a Japanese market in Seattle! I don't trust Coca-Cola to leave it alone, though.

  3. Question for the Moxie fans; is there diet Moxie?

    1. Yes--It comes in a white, rather than orange can/bottle.

  4. Would love to try a Moxie! Recently had blueberry juice bottled by Oceanspray. It was pretty good!

  5. Moxie and Cel-Ray are an acquired taste, however, not one that I have ever acquired. It is true that they are vile swill. Kudos to those who care to partake in either one or both of these libations.

  6. Tried a Moxie when we were in the Northeast. One of the few things I didn't care for.......it and Boston traffic. (Houston's and Dallas-Ft. Worth's is nothing compared to Boston's. That said, Austin is getting very close.)

  7. Moxie is a delightful occasional treat. So is birch beer, virtually impossible to find outside of Pennsylvania. Kutztown Bottling makes a red as well as the more common white birch beer, they have a wonderful root beer and sarsaparilla as well. And the black cherry soda is the best! The country stores that carry Kutztown Bottling beverages always tend to carry Moxie as well.

  8. I had heard Coca-Cola was in the process of buying the regional. Haven't heard if the sale went through. Makes you wonder what Coca-cola is going to do with the soda once they own it.

  9. Not much for soda and whatever the heck Moxie is. The one soda I do like is Foxon Park White Birch Beer, brewed and bottled in East Haven, Conn. Whenever we went out for pizza, this was the preferred beverage. I remember once our family went for pizza and the pizzeria had just run out of birch beer. We went to another pizza place and the first thing we asked, "Do you have Foxon Park Birch Beer?"
