  1. Please, a nod to Biagio “Ben” DiLieto, well turned out in suit and tie, breathing “new life” into the Elm City...

    1. Mayor DiLieto always dressed well. Probably the best mayor for New Haven since WWII. Very savvy politically and deeply cared for New Haven and its people. He was also a helluva cook and a genuinely nice guy.

  4. other than the groovy camera in the last photo, I would never have guessed these are from 30+ years ago. I must be stuck in a time warp. I still dress this way and have since I was in high school. (class of 1982)

  6. Love the 80's! Still an 80's kid 30-some years later (class 0f 84).....and always will be!!! Note to the "Retro" crowd of which I am part....bring back the 80's styles in clothing. Then carry it on into home interiors by trading in granite counter tops and the stainless, gray industrial look for the warmth of 80's country kitchens and wood-paneled family rooms!!!

  7. I do not miss the door knocker earrings seen on the young lady in the trench coat. Ruined my pierced ears - lol! I think I had the barrette seen on the young lady in the fair isle - it was faux chain....maybe from Talbots?

    1. Patsy, had to chuckle at your comment above about “door knocker earrings.” Those heavy earrings of the 80s did a number on my pierced ears as well. Now, I only wear small pearl studs. That’s ok though, as I wouldn’t want to wear anything more at my age! :) -Sue

    2. Sue, 99 times out of 100, I wear small stud earrings, but sometimes I see hanging earrings that are just darling! Or small hoops.....

  8. Classics were, and are, always right. They are never out of place or out of style! My wardrobe still consists of many old pieces from my beloved Talbots and LL Bean...back in the day....

  9. My clothing as well, though not the denim in photo #4. No large earrings because the weight gave me headaches. Simple, consistent, easy = elegant. A friend of mine once said, "I envy you, you always look the same." I'm not sure she meant that as a compliment, but that's how I took it. She later revealed that she thought my "look" was the natural result of my dislike of shopping. Missed the point, obviously! Thank you for the lovely photos. Suzanne

  10. Ha ha! Not much has changed for me except the sweater fit is more form fitting due to the current style as well as my middle age spread!
