  1. My, how beach wear has changed in a little over a century! Your family was wonderfully stylish.

    1. Well, when I think of families posing on rocks by the water, I think of beach wear or the super casual attire we wear in such places. Truly ties and long dresses would be unusual in our present day culture. That's what has changed.

    2. My first visit to the ocean was during the summer I worked on a farm near Amherst, Mass., in 1964. The so-called beach had no sand, only pebbles, which was a surprise. It must have been in Connecticut but that was a while ago.

  2. Family photos like these are precious and I am so glad for high resolution digital technology that allows old family images to be shared. There are three siblings in my family, and when a vintage photo turns up in the family we can all have a copy, plus share with relatives!
