  2. Liberty cotton lawn for women is one of the nicest things to happen to women's apparel.

    1. Villager - now there's a label I'd welcome back into my wardrobe! I, too, have a Liberty shirt with Peter Pan collar but not as old as yours. Orvis carried Liberty prints at one time when they leaned toward classic styling for women. Unfortunately, that has all shifted recently as they are on the path of all the other brands we once trusted.

    2. Villager and Cos Cob were favorites for me. Lately, my favorite compliment is 'My gosh, you've had that blouse, sweater, pair of shoes . . .forever!'. cheers!

    3. ...excuse me, I forgot to add the Liberty print garments [shirtwaist dresses and blouses] we wore under the Tanner label also!

    4. Speaking of shirtwaist dresses, my favorite, I see that Sailor Rose also offers dresses. Muffy have you ever tried any? I can visualize wearing one with a cardigan or blazer.

    1. Yes, J M Villager, Bobby Brooks blouses, A-line wool skirts with matching Shetland sweaters, loafers. Definitely dates a few of us but frankly I still wear twin sets, wool skirts and slacks, loafers, etc. just different manufacturers. Some things worth saving and searching out quality companies. 8. Sorry, my computer blinked. I was saying you can catch Ali McGraw in the movie "Goodbye Columbus" on you tube dressed in Villager.

    1. I rewatched 'Goodbye Columbus" over the weekend thanks to your prompt. I hadn't realized Villager was responsible for the wardrobe so i paid attention. Ali McGraw performed with aplomb in her stylish wardrobe, which, by the way, looked as fresh and current as though it was filmed yesterday. It's amazing to me how "America" has lost its edge in "looking good" since the 60s. Where is Villager, Bobbie Brooks, John Meyer of Norwich, and Ladybug when we need them?
