  1. Yes! The actual line will be longer! Haha! I keep reading year after year that it's the best in Maine.

  3. Of all the times I've been to Maine, I haven't yet been to Red's. This year is the year if I have to walk to get there! Love Maine.

  4. Since you're going to have to wait in line just to get through town and over the the Wiscasset bridge, you might as well stop and join the line at Red's. And don't let anyone convince you that the lobster joint across the street is just as good. It isn't...and the lack of lines proves everyone knows it isn't!

  5. What does a lobster roll at Red's go for? My mouth is watering!

    1. A friend and I had dinner at Reds last year and the cost was about $24.00 for a lobster roll.

    2. $24 must be the market price for, hopefully, a good lobster roll most places. I am familiar with those at the little beach shack called The Lobster Roll in Amagansett on the Montauk Highway, L.I., but from the photo, Red's looks even more awesome. When in NYC, I'll gladly stand in line at the Pearl Oyster Bar in Greenwich Village to experience their offering, probably the best you can find in the city. When is the best time of year to avoid long lines at Red's Eats?

  6. Best Lobster roll in Maine! I had lobster roll in Hilton Head, SC recently, the southern version had fried green tomatoes and bacon added to the lobster roll! Amazing!

  7. I would love to pass it, but unfortunately the traffic is usually so backed up, I can't!

  8. Could be the best in Maine.....my entries for the best in New England are at The Raw Bar at Popponesset and the Boston Yacht Club in Marblehead (although we've been slacking due to high lobster prices).

  9. The Best Lobster Rolls in New England are the ones served at St. Michael's in Marblehead during the Marblehead Arts Festival over the Fourth of July Holiday. Great Art! Great Eats!

  10. I would also recommend Abbott's Lobster in the Rough in a small town of Noank, CT. Great atmosphere & the lobster is served several ways, but all delicious.

  11. God I love Red's! That line must go back behind the building & down to the river.

  12. We're from the islands of the Pacific Northwest, and prowled every corner of Maine 3 years ago to find the best lobster roll. Most were surprisingly disappointing (we learned never to order a lobster roll from any establishment that included other seafood offerings on its menu); some were OK, and a rare few were sublime. It may have taken us 45 minutes to navigate the line at Red's, but it was worth the wait. Heaven. We went back again a week later on our way to Logan and then home, and as we wrapped up our final roll, we agreed that our search was over. Eat at Red's, then drop the mic...

  13. Yes! So good. Deliberately forced my Father in Law drive us to Wiscasset for these a few summers ago (he lived in Fredericton, NB). Definitely worth the trip. Seeing as we flew in from England it's a long long way to go for a lobster roll. Still, I can't wait to return.

  14. I would like to put in a vote for Maine's best lobster roll: the one served by Osier's Wharf in South Bristol, Maine. I just can't imagine a better lobster roll, and I've had Red's. Red's are excellent but Osier's are just as fine and, I think, a bit fuller and fresher. Since Osier's is off the beaten path in downtown South Bristol just before the famous bridge over "The Gut," they don't get the crowds. But they are right on the wharf and the lobster couldn't be fresher or sweeter.
